Question: Will I have to sleep on the ground in a tent if I come to camp?
Answer: Not unless you want to. You can camp in a tent, stay in one of our comfortable cabins, or go to a nearby hotel or B&B of your choosing. See our registration page to sign up for a cabin or go to http://www.halfmoonbaychamber.org/stay/index.htm

Question: What are the cabins like?
Answer: We have different cabin choices - Early Bird/Night Owl, Animal House/Quiet as a mouse, Female/Male/Coed. Each cabin sleeps 12-20 people in wooden, bunk style beds with mattresses. Some cabins have attached bathrooms and showers. Register quickly to get one of these.

Question: What are the facilities like?
Answer: We're not going to send you off into the woods with a shovel, if that's what you're worried about. The camp has flushing toilets, hot showers, and a laundry room.

Question: What time is check in?
Answer: Check in is at 1:00pm on Wednesday and we will offer a couple beginner classes in the late afternoon and than a class for everyone (if they want) as well. Times are not set - please check the website as time comes closer for specific times.

Question: When does the camp end?

Answer: The last class will be right before Lunch on Sunday and the camp is finished after lunch.

Question: What do you consider the weekend? (for weekend pass)
Answer: Friday evening to Sunday

Question: What classes are you offering?
Answer: Lindy hop for Beginners thru Advance.

Question: What are you cooking up for us?
Answer: We'll be serving 3 delicious meals a day, catered food. Believe me, this is not your average camp slop.

Question: What is the weather like in Northern California that time of year?
Answer: The days should be sunny and warm. The nights will cool off and can get foggy. So wear your shorts and bring a jacket and pants. And bring your appropriate gear if you're staying in a tent.

Question: Will there be break time during the days?
Answer: Yes, every day we'll have a mid-day 1-2 hour break. Take a nap, hang with friends, or jump into another activity. Plus, you'll have some time between classes and evening events.

Question: Can I come for just the weekend?
Answer: Yes

Question: Can I come for one day?
Answer: No, that is not an option. But you could get a Weekend Pass

Question: Is there a place nearby where I can get stuff I may forget or run out of, like deodorant?
Answer: Yes, we have a camp store supplied for just such an occasion. They have everything from deodorant to toothpaste, snacks to drinks, and much more.

Question: What if I just want to come to an evening event?
Answer: Not available. You can get a Weekend Passport if you would want to come to camp for a shorter time.

Question: What do I need to bring to camp?
Answer: That depends.

Cabin dwellers should bring:

Pillowcase
Blanket (or rent from us)
pillow (or rent from us)

Campers should bring:

Camping gear
Appropriate gear for cool nights

And we suggest everyone bring the following:

Question: What's the earliest check-in time?
Answer: The earliest you can check in will be at 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 7th

Question: I'm flying in for camp. What kind of transportation will be available to me?
Answer: We are not offering Transportation this year.

Do you want to Carpool or are you coming from another state or country? There are plenty of people who are wiling to host you or give you a ride to the camp. Email IndianSummerSwingCamp@yahoogroups.com and make your request.

Question: Are there any rate specials?
Answer: Yes, if you have a group of 6, 10 or 15 or more we can give you substantial discounts and you can be together in your own group cabin. Email us at swingout@yeahman.com

Question: I can't pack linens and a pillow. Can I rent them?
Answer: Yes, we will be offering blankets and pillows for rent. See our registration page for rates.

Question: What kind of trees are right in your swing camp location?
Answer: Redwoods for sure, but we're not sure what other kinds.

Question: Do the Swedish instructors speak English?
Answer: They will teach in Swinglish.

Question: Can you describe the dance hall?
Answer: The hall has windows, a rustic feel, and a nice wooden floor.

Question: Are all the classes in one dance hall or different places?
Answer: Different places, about a 3-4 minute walk apart.

Question: How long are the classes?
Answer: Classes are1 hour/20 minutes.

Question: How much time will be between the classes?
Answer: Breaks will be10 minutes. During the middle of the day, we'll have a 1 hour lunch followed by another 1 hour break to do whatever you like.

Question: How early in the day will the classes start, and what time will the last class end?
Answer: The first classes will begin at 9:00am. We will offer "Specialty classes," ending around 6:00pm. If you decide not to take these classes, you'll be done sooner.

Question: Are there any rivers, lakes, or streams close by?
Answer: There is a stream, but it will probably be dry at that time. However, the Pacific Ocean is nearby.

Question: Are there paved areas or is everything dirt?
Answer: Most of the pathways are dirt or grass.

Question: Are the campsites in between and under trees or is the area open?
Answer: Camping is available on a grassy field and underneath the trees. Cabins are in between the trees.
